The Future’s Bright for Swimmer Sadie!

2018-05-16 11:07:39

Congratulations to Sadie Milton, who has just been voted in as Welfare Officer for her University Swim Team at Newcastle University, where she is currently about to finish the second year of her degree course. Sadie, age 20, is a past DLGC Competitive Squad Swimmer and currently a Country Member of Dover Life Guard Club, which means she still competes at Arena League as part of the Club Team.

Often parents and young swimmers wonder what the the wider benefits of swimming are, whether they have ‘missed the boat’ if they don’t start competing until age 13 or older and what the future holds for them once they have been on a successful journey with DLGC......

Sadie began her DLGC journey at a later age than many children who start competitive training, however this did not hinder her achievements and successes in swimming, hence demonstrating that it is never too late for kids to  finish their Learn to Swim Stages and start competing.

Sadie starting training with the Dover Life Guard Club squad in 2011 when she was 13, having had worked through her ‘Learn to Swim’ Stages up to Stage 5 at swim school whilst at Primary School, and then came back to swimming once she had started Dover Girls Grammar School, attending Thursday Nights with DLGC Learn to Swim from Stage 6 onwards.  It was in fact, taking part in Schools Galas that enticed Sadie back to swimming and competing.

Sadie went from strength to strength, after joining the squad in 2011, she qualified for Kent County Championships each year from 2012-2016 and SE Regional Championships in 2013 and 2014.  She was also voted in as Girls Club Vice Captain for 2 years, qualified as a Level 2 Swim Teacher, and an NPLQ Qualified Pool Lifeguard  and was Sports Captain in 6th Form at Dover Girls Grammar.  She is ready to start her new role as Welfare Officer for her University Swim Team and her CV is looking pretty impressive already!

What an amazing journey and a great future ahead for Sadie - the Club is very proud of all her achievements!! Well done Sadie!
