Competitive Swimming
The Dover Lifeguard Club has a strong Competitive Squad of swimmers, ranging from age 8, through to a few 16 year olds and above, including our Junior Masters and Masters Swimmers.
Our Learn 2 Race - Minnows and Dolphins Squads (11 and under), Development Squad (12+), Competitive Squad (11 and under), Competitive Squad (12+) and eXcel Squad train very hard every day of the week, except Sundays, and have 1-2 hour sessions Between 6-8am in the mornings and/or most evenings, at Dover District Leisure Centre. The sessions are run by our Coaches, Swimming Teachers and some Parents, who are all volunteers and are led by our DLGC Head Coach.
Some of these swimmers go on to gain East Kent, Kent, South East Region and National qualifying times. The commitment of our coaches, teachers and helpers to the swimmers and club is much appreciated by all those involved.
The Club also works with the younger swimmers who have passed their Learn to Swim Stages 1-6 , from ages 7 to 11, in our new LEARN 2 RACE squad programme designed to develop their strokes and fitness so that they are ready for our own competitions and Development Galas. A number of these swimmers go on to achieve entry times for the East Invicta Swimming Championships each year.
