Remembering Jim Seal

2017-09-21 23:08:14

Many of you will already have learned the very sad news that Jim Seal recently passed away after a short illness. I have only known Jim for a relatively small part of his long involvement with our wonderful Club so it is only fitting that one of our longest-serving members and one of Jim's friends and fellow Trustees, Colette Cotton, pays tribute
"I first met Jim when my own children joined Dover Life Guard Club around 34 years ago and his own children; Karen, Mark & Nicola were star swimmers. Jim was always around helping on poolside and at various club events. He could always be relied upon to be there and was punctual and meticulous, with a dry sense of humour, one of the stalwarts of the club.
Since retiring from teaching at Astor Secondary, he has had more time to devote to his grandchildren, who are developing into excellent swimmers like his own children were. He became a knowledgeable and valuable Trustee of the club and once again, helped out on poolside and at galas.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him both in the field of swimming and in education. R.I.P Jim."
Jim's funeral will take place at 12:40pm on Tuesday 26th September at Barham.
If anyone would like to make a donation to his chosen charity, Jim always supported the 'Firefighters' Charity' - visit for details of the excellent work this charity does in support of our fire-fighting community and their families.
Kind regards
Steve Turner
DLGC Chairman
