Dover swimmers were in action this weekend at the South East Region Championships. Full results are available at:

10 year girls gold medalist - 200m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley

Nine swimmers from Dover Lifeguard Club were part of a twenty strong East Invicta Excel swimming team which took part at this year’s South East Regional Championships at Crawley earlier this month. East Invicta eXcel is made up from all of the clubs in the Eastern corner of Kent, including Ashford, Canterbury. Herne Bay, Margate, Dover, Folkestone and Hythe.

Jordan Roger-Mills and Maria Evans swam in the 10yr, 200 backstroke, both achieving long course personal best times. Maria placed 5th and Jordan 12th.  Maria later swam in the girls’ 400 metres freestyle achieving a silver medal in a time of 5:22.75. Sian Leech also achieved a PB coming 19^th in the 12yr old age group.

Alessandro Corbo swam in the boys 11-13 years 100 breaststroke coming 19^th in his age group min a new Long course PB.

Thirteen year old boys, Lee Shepherd and Luis Corbo, swam in the longest event of the championships, the boys’ 1500 freestyle. Despite a knee injury which made his preparation and training difficult Lee came 15th overall with  team mate Luis just 2 places behind.

In the 11 year boys 200 breaststroke Alessandro Corbo was 15^th in a time of 3:16.87 and team mate Christopher Sharp posting a time of 3:24.54.

In the 10 year old girls 200 metre butterfly Jordan Rogers-Mills swam a very positive race from the start holding her form all the way to the end posting a personal best time of 2:58.58 earning her a gold medal and SER Champion in the 10 year 200 Butterfly. Team mate Maria Evans also achieved a PB finishing in 7^th place overall.

Dover Lifeguard 10 year girls were in action straight away in the second weekend of the South East Regions at Crawley with Jordan Roger-Mills winning her second Gold medal of the championships in the girls 200 metre  Individual Medley with Maria Evans 7^th.

Jordan again won gold in the 200 Freestyle with Maria winning Bronze, both posting LC personal best times. In the last event of the day Maria was again in superb form winning her second bronze medal of the championships in a personal best of 6m06.93 in the 400 metre Individual Medley

13 year old Luis Corbo competed in 3 events over the weekend - in the 200 Butterfly he gained a personal best time of 2m38.81, in the 100 butterfly he equalled his entry time and achieved another personal best time of 4:57.84 in the 400m freestyle. Lee Shepherd swam a great a very evenly paced race winning his heat in a personal best time of 4:13.04 finishing 13^th overall.

Dover swimmers were also selected to represent East Invicta Excel in the relay events over the 2 weekends. Well done to the following swimmers: Luis Corbo, Alessandro Corbo, Alfie Herrington, Sian Leech and Helen Smith.
