ANAEROBIC

During anaerobic swimming  the body is not able to keep up with the muscle's demand for oxygen. This occurs when you swim at an intense rate. The higher your anaerobic threshold, the longer you will be able to sustain a challenging effort. This type of swimming normally cannot be sustained for over 2 minutes. it mimics race pace effort, and leads to lactic acid build up in the muscles.

The benefits of anaerobic swimming will help build your lactic acid threshold; the more anaerobic swims you do, the more adept your body will become for high intesity workouts. Anaerobic swimming can be done by sprinting or set distances. This helps builds muscle strength whilst buring more calories.
